NFA urges shift to brown rice

December 17, 2016

MANILA, Philippines – State rice importer National Food Authority (NFA) continues to encourage farmers to market brown rice after it was initially sold in Bohol for almost half its original price.

Usually retailed at around P80 per kilogram, brown rice is now being sold for P37 per kilogram at NFA’s rice retail outlets.

NFA said the availability of brown rice at an affordable price would help address issues of hunger and malnutrition in the country.
